WHAT TO DO WHILE YOU WAIT – EMERGENCY TRIAGE.
Minimize damage before we arrive with these steps:
- WATER:
Locate your mains water meter (usually at the front boundary) and turn the tap clockwise until tight.
Open a garden tap to drain the remaining water in the pipes. - GAS:
Turn the yellow handle at your gas meter so it sits crossways (perpendicular) to the pipe.
Open windows to ventilate.
DO NOT use any electrical switches or lighters. - ELECTRICAL:
If water is leaking near lights or power points, turn off the mains power at your switchboard immediately.
